Why did you pick the name you have now
by label licker injust wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

They Are Just Like The Amish (But with Electricity)
by OnTheWayOut ini was describing jehovah's witnesses to a family member who had no idea whatsoever about them.
i may be straightforward and describe things in terms i have learned since reading about cults, but i was not over the top in any way.
i was simply stating the facts in a way that did not try to put any positive spin on anything.. my family member said, "so they are basically the amish but with televisions and electricity.

In our old hall we had Mennonite territory that was worked in FS. If you worked in that territory you were asked to not wear alot of makeup or jewelry ,and to wear very modest plain clothing . Most of the women would not speak to you at the door ,men had a better shot talking to another man.
I think it is important for Witnesses to see how some of the other cult religions operate ....When they see others that shun and how it affects families, bend to Elder's authorities ,have fear of being destroyed for going against the belief system ....They can not help but question why they too believe similar things .
On my way out of the JWs something that helped me was seeing a show about cults on TV . Once I saw the similarities between what JWs believed ,and how close it was to this cult religion ...it made me realize I needed to do more research . The main points were the shunning , the belief that everything outside their belief system was evil . The fear which kept a person in even if their conscience was telling them something was wrong . The guilt felt for questioning ....The absolute fear that they would be destroyed at Armegedeon .
At the end of the show there were links to 'Steve Hassons' books and website, and to Freeminds . The points made on that show gave me the much needed strength to go ahead and investigate what I already thought may be the case ......I was raised in a religious cult too.
It was a Dr. Phil show called "The Two Fawns " . Two teenage girls each named Fawn that had escaped the Colorado City Cult of J.Jessop .

Glad your still kickin Zed !
you asked :Has anyone else had BP spikes when in a similar situation? OH YES !!! I have been treated for high blood pressure since my thirties (it runs in my family ) But even on meds when I am anxious ,which I especially get in medical environments , my BP shoots sky high ! When I was being prept for surgery the nurse kept telling me she hoped I didn't stroke out on her ...that didn't help btw. This last surgery I told them about my anxiety before hand so they gave me something to take right away, and things went much better .
I also found some relaxation music videos on you tube to listen to when I get anxious ,and they seem to really help .

What was the best KISS you ever experienced?
by Terry inthe phone rang in the art gallery and i answered.. the voice was a young woman's.. one of her two parrots had died rather suddenly.. she wanted a colorful frame for the memorial portrait.
could we accomodate her?.
the remaining bird was sulking.. i suggested parrots without partners.. i don't where my tasteless jokes come from.

When my husband and I were teenagers and dating, I was amazed what a great kisser he was ....sometimes it made me wonder HOW did he learn to do that so well He has great lips ....I can't wait until he gets home from work now ...

You are doing a good thing OTWO ,but it zaps your energy .
My advice to you is Be straight with your sister about her husband visiting .She is lying because she doesn't want you to be mad ,so have a calm discussion of why it is a bad idea to allow her husband too much leaway . Remind her of why she is in the home in the first place . Sickness may indeed be effecting her mind ,so you may need to have this conversation over ,and over again . Tell her your fears be honest with her too .
Sometimes you just have to realize you can only do so much, and then let it go . It sucks that you end up being the person that will have to pick up the peices if she makes a bad decision . It also stinks that you will be labeled the bad guy ,but what matters is that you know the truth and that you did what needs to be done .
I am in a similar circumstance with my sister . I have to make unpopular choices ,and get labelled as the mean one too. It is hurtful when you do so much and then someone can waltz in for two seconds and throw a wrench into all you have done . My sister will lie to me too, because she hates it when I get mad .
I hope you can get a break and just not think about it for a day .

An experiment: Open House for Demons
by return of parakeet ini feel cheated that never, not once, as a dub or as a ex-dub, did i experience the presence, manifestation, or just-things-flying-around, of demons.
not so much as a teacup levitating from its saucer.
no inexplicable cold spots.

I love that Godsmack song ! We saw them in concert a few years ago and they played it ,it was fantastic .
I was raised on demon stories too . Return of Parakeet good luck with the experiment . Try putting out Sinful Delight coffee and Devils food cake .....or better yet open your mind with a bit of tequila that may get you seeing things . Just trying to be helpful

This kind of 'Christian love' by JW is what started me waking up .
There was a newly interested person attending our hall that needed aid ,and when I asked the Elders if the congregation could help ,they told me that was not the role of the congregation . Our only concern should be preaching ,JWs are not a social services organization .
They proceeded to tell the person in need that because they were a newly interested one the others would view them as 'an icey wind' on their backs until they proved themselves to be a lover of Jehovah . I was SHOCKED and sickened by this revelation . A few days later this person was homeless ,and when I told an Elders wife , 'I guess I will have to turn to the Churches in town to help her ' ,... she jumped down her husbands throat and ended up getting some help after all. Some of those Elders wives can be real assets .
When I came to realize they couldn't even get being a good samaritian right, I knew it was all over ....
